kids jumping in gymBuilding on the success of ADSB's Hockey Canada Skills Academy (HCSA), this is the next phase of ADSB Sports Academies, providing learning environments in which students can thrive academically, socially and physically. The ultimate goal of ADSB’s F.I.T. Academy is to develop life skills and produce confident, well-rounded students who make a lasting commitment to healthy, active living and lifelong learning. The approach involves placing equal emphasis on both academics and athletics so that students, regardless of their level of ability, learn more about the sport they love and develop their skills in a truly inspiring atmosphere.

This unique opportunity will be introduced for the 23/24 school year and is accessible to any Grade 7 or 8 student enrolled at the White Pines Intermediate Program. The F.I.T. Academy will provide engaging learning experiences with highly skilled, sport-specific trained staff, fitness equipment and training facilities.

The F.I.T. Academy is unique to Algoma District. While the program is housed

Two of these practices will be focused on the skill development in their chosen individual sport at the venue specific to each sport (pool/studio/gym at John Rhodes and Hiawatha Highlands for skilling). All F.I.T. Academy students will come together for the other two practices at John Rhodes for fitness training, theory, health and nutrition classes facilitated by qualified ADSB teachers and community skills experts.                                                                                                        F.I.T. Academy students will be prepared to give back to the community as leaders and coaches as the program will enhance their own leadership, mentoring and teaching/coaching skills. They will also have opportunities to showcase their skills during performance and demonstration-based events.
